Inaugural Ceremonies: Jade Sooktis
Monday, January 6th, 2025 in Helena, Montana the Inaugural Ceremonies of the State of Montana was held. The ceremony began despite the cold and snowy weather conditions outside the Montana State Capitol Building. Governor Greg Gianforte gave his inaugural address after being sworn in for his second term. As the event continued, the proceedings moved forward inside the Capitol Building.

Members of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe including members of the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council and President’s office, traveled to Helena for the House Swearing in Ceremony and House Floor Session. They attended in support of newly elected 41st district Democratic Party Montana Representative Jade Sooktis. During the legislative session, Montana's American Indian Caucus voiced their top priorities. Senator Shane Morigeau said the caucus will focus on strengthening the Montana Indian Child Welfare Act, restoring the Tribal Relations manager position within the Department of Health and Human Services, Medicaid expansion, increased funding and awareness to address the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People crisis, Language revitalization, fair elections, and establishing Indigenous Peoples' Day.
