Members of the State-Tribal Relations Interim Committee convened a meeting with Tribal Council representatives and members from the executive branch, including Tribal President Serena Whetherelt, to engage in discussions regarding concerns pertaining to state-tribal and local government-tribal relations. The gathering facilitated an open dialogue aimed at exploring current effective practices and addressing various pertinent inquiries.
Many concerns were addressed during the meeting, such as the challenges in contacting DHHPS with the outstanding wait times and the significant number of Northern Cheyenne Tribal Members who lost Medicaid coverage.
Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the necessity of solidarity with other Tribal nations to leverage collective influence in raising awareness about the shared issues faced by indigenous communities.
A successful outcome of the meeting was establishing connections with the State-Tribal Relations Interim Committee. Thank you to the attendees, and there is anticipation for fostering and strengthening the relationships forged on this occasion.
