Public Wide Dog Owners Notice
Issued May 8th, 2024 | Chloe Ortega Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council Public Information Officer & Web Designer
From the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council
ATTENTION: NORTHERN CHEYENNE TRIBAL RESIDENTS RESERVATION-WIDE
In response to the Public Safety threat in regards to continued dog attacks across the Northern Cheyenne Reservation, the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council is taking action to capture all dogs found roaming freely throughout the Reservation.
Notice is hereby given that starting on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, any dog found roaming freely throughout the Northern Cheyenne Reservation will be captured. If the captured dog is not claimed by their owner, the dog will be euthanized. Therefore, dog owners are urged to control/contain their dogs to avoid their capture. Dog owners are strongly advised to collar and tag their dog for identification purposes.
This does not readily include private residents who live in rural areas across the Reservation, whose dogs are not posing a threat to public safety.
The Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council wants to remind everyone that the health and safety of our children, elders, and membership is of the utmost importance and we are implementing this initiative to enforce public safety for all.
If you experience a dog attack, call the Police Department at 477-6288 to file a police report for the incident. In addition, please also call Patricia Ramos at 477-4961 to report injuries sustained.
Dogs who are found to have attacked someone will also be euthanized.
To claim your dog or to forfeit any dogs that you are unable to care for, please call (406) 720-3525.
